What do I need to use Sprint Board TV?

An Apple TV with tvOS 26 or later, a Jira Cloud site with a scrum board that runs sprints, and an Atlassian account that can see that board. Without Jira, you can still try the sample sprint in the app, free.

How do I make the Jira API token?
  1. In the app, choose Connect Jira and enter your Jira address.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone. It opens Atlassian's API token page.
  3. Choose Create API token with scopes, then Jira. Name it something like "Office TV" and choose when it expires.
  4. Tick these read-only scopes: read:jira-work, read:jira-user, read:board-scope:jira-software, read:board-scope.admin:jira-software, read:sprint:jira-software.
  5. Copy the token, and paste it into the TV from your iPhone's keyboard, which appears when the field is selected.

A token can last up to a year. The board shows a reminder in its last two weeks.

Can Sprint Board change anything in Jira?

No. It only reads, and the scopes above are all read-only. The token is kept in the Apple TV's encrypted keychain and is only ever sent to your own Jira site.

The TV says "Jira stopped accepting the token". What now?

The token has expired or been revoked. Make a new one on your phone (the TV shows the QR code), then choose Enter a new token. The board comes back as soon as Jira accepts it.

Why does my board show To Do, In Progress and Done instead of my own columns?

The token can't read the board's column setup. Make a new token that includes read:board-scope.admin:jira-software and enter it in Settings › Jira › Enter a new token. Without it the board still works, grouped by status, and counts tickets instead of story points.

Does it work with Kanban boards or Jira Data Center?

Not yet. Sprint Board shows the active sprint of a Jira Cloud scrum board.

How do plans work?

One monthly plan covers every Apple TV signed in to the same Apple Account, up to the number of TVs you choose, from 1 to 25. Plans start at $4.99 a month for one TV, and from the fifth TV on each one costs less. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, once per Apple Account.

The first TVs to join keep their places. When every place is taken, a new TV shows which TVs hold them, so you can replace one you no longer use or add TVs to the plan. A TV that has been off for two weeks frees its place by itself.

Why does the TV ask me to sign in to iCloud?

The TVs on a plan count each other through the iCloud that comes with your Apple Account. On the Apple TV, open Settings › Users and Accounts, choose the account and sign in to iCloud. The board appears by itself as soon as iCloud is on.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

To change the number of TVs: in the app, Settings › Plan. A bigger plan starts straight away and Apple refunds the unused part of the month; a smaller one starts at your next renewal. To cancel: in the Apple TV's own Settings, Users and Accounts › Subscriptions, at least a day before the renewal date or the end of the free trial.

How do I start the standup?

Press Play/Pause on the Siri Remote while the board is showing. Click or press right for the next person, left to go back, Play/Pause to pause, and Menu to end. Hold the clickpad on the board for the other options.

How do I keep the board on the screen all day?

Sprint Board keeps the Apple TV awake while the board is showing. For a screen on the wall, also set the Apple TV's Settings › General › Sleep After to Never, and check that the TV itself doesn't switch off on a timer.
